Playlist for the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero – 8/26/10

The show got off to a late start this week.  Must have been an accident, on I75-85, because the connector was all backed up.  Therefore, I had to jump around using primarily Piedmont Rd. and West Peachtree St. to get to the studio.  Good thing I was thinking about tonight’s feature or else I may never made it to the airwaves. “King of the road sez you move too slow!”

Yes – it’s true. Tonight’s special feature* on the Fuzz Factory was fuzz rock band extraordinaire, Fu Manchu.  Yes – one of the best at what they do.  Their riffs are not the toughest to play, but have you ever heard that fuzz in you face any better way?  If there was ever a band that proves it’s not what you play, but how you play it, it’s Fu Manchu.  The second hour is all Super Fuzzmatic Deluxe!  A hefty set of Fu Manchu in honor of their visit to Atlanta next week.

One reminder – there will be no show next week.  No Fuzz Factory on 9/2/10.  Regular scheduling resumes the following week. Thursdays from 8-10pm (EST).

Here’s the playlist.

Playlist for the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero – 8/12/10

Last week I was just in town for a little more than 24 hours, however 2.5 of that limited time was spent playing music for you in the Fuzz Factory.  Why, because I love rock and roll!

When out of town, I visited my hometown of Chicago, spent time in rural Michigan, passed through Detroit and spent the night in Cincinnati visiting old friends.  While in Cincinnati, I decided on the Special Feature* for the week.  Greg Dulli was the feature, the man most associated with Cincinnati and alternative rock & roll.  Greg Dulli is the man behind some great bands, most notably the Afghan Whigs.  He also has partnered with Mark Lanegan as the Gutter Twins and also fronts the current band the Twilight Singers.  All of his bands examine and explore of the dark side of love and loss.  A worthwhile subject indeed.

Here is your playlist.

Playlist for the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero – 7/29/10

This week the Fuzz Factory was completely transformed into the Funk Factory.  No, scratch that.  It was completely transformed into the Supreme Funk Palace!  For three straight hours, this place was the funkiest, grooviest, most soulful spot in the world.

This show focused on old school funk soul classics, primarily from 1965-1975.  This was the golden age of funk when the rockin’ groove ruled above all else.  This was also before synthesizers started to replace the rhythm guitar and horn section which led to the watered down funk and soul of the disco era.  This Supreme Funk Palace also focused on real rarities with only a few big hits thrown in along the way

One programming note. There will be no Fuzz Factory this coming Thursday, 8/5/10.  I will be in Chicago visiting friends and family.  However, the Fuzz Factory will be back in business as usual the following week 8/12/10, 8-10pm (EST).

We want the funk, give up the funk.

Playlist for the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero – 7/22/10

After a week off, the Fuzz Factory was back full force.

This week the special feature* was Jack White is Everywhere.  Why?  Because as the leader of three great bands, the White Stripes, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, he really is everywhere.  Basically, anything that Jack White is involved with is gold. Seriously, he earns more respect from me every year. He has a legacy of recorded music and live performances that anyone would envy, and he just turned 35 years old!  He is the most prolific guitarist of the last 15 years and shows no signs of slowing down.  His talent (as both musician and songwriter) and relentless work ethic are an inspiration to me.  Need I say more?

As always check out the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero every Thursday night from 8-10pm (EST), or sometimes later.

Playlist for the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero – 7/8/10

This week I had a last minute brainstorm.  It’s been really, really hot outside.  Like 99º heat here in Atlanta and even hotter in other places around the country.  Therefore, I decided to make the Fuzz factory this week all about the heat!

This week the special feature* was all about the sun, the sunlight, the heat and those hot uncomfortable places we tend to avoid.  Please note this concept is both figurative and literal, because as we all know, there are many meanings to the word HOT!

As always check out the Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero every Thursday night from 8-10pm (EST), or sometimes later.

Please note the Fuzz factory will not air next Thursday, 7/15/10.  I will be out of town.
