SITS_1975

It was the year 1975! Here are a few music related items of interest that occurred. The filmed version of The Who’s Tommy premieres in London (the film features the band as well as cameos by Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Arthur Brown and Elton John). Billy Preston and Janis Ian are the first musical guests on the debut episode of Saturday Night Live. The Sex Pistols play their first concert at St. Martin’s School of Art and the first issue of Punk magazine is released. Kiss play the homecoming dance of a high school in Cadillac, Michigan. John Lennon wins his battle to stay in the United States. Peter Gabriel leaves the band Genesis but Steve Harris forms the band Iron Maiden so, yeah… that seems about fair trade. And the following bands release their debut albums in the year 1975: Ted Nugent, The Tubes, Journey, Patti Smith, The Dictators, and AC/DC (in their native Australia anyway).
