Stuck in the 70s covers the year 1976 so here are a few things that happened. On Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1976, The Band gives its last performance at the Winterland Ballroom. The concert includes special guests and musicians such as Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Neil Diamond, and Muddy Waters. Director Martin Scorsese documents the performance and turns it into what has been called the greatest concert film of all time, The Last Waltz. Speaking of concert films, the Led Zeppelin concert film The Song Remains The Same premieres in New York. The Sex Pistols release their “Anarchy in the U.K.” single and later swear a whole lot on the Thames Television Today show. Four young men from Dublin form a band called Feedback, later to be know as U2. And a 40-foot inflatable pig breaks free of its restraints and drifts up and away during a photo shoot for an upcoming Pink Floyd album cover. These artists released their debut albums this year: Boston, Ramones, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, The Runaways, and funk duo The Brothers Johnson.
